2011 Circulation 20c
The Royal Australian Mint, the Assistant Treasurer Bill Shorten and the Minister for the Status of Women Kate Ellis have announced today that a commemorative coin will be released into circulation. The cupro nickel 20c commemorates 100 years of International Womens Day, today, March 8th 2011. The coin will follow a tradition of depicting strong, historically traditional women on coins and banknotes in Australia but the design doesn't feature anyone specifically. It recognises this milestone for women and pays tribute to the past and future contributions of Australian women to the development of Australia's prosperity.
